Realistic Minimus 11

Realistic Minimus 11 -> many of us think of realistic as the cheap alternative we all went to buy back in the day when needing speakers, solder, a cheap gadget, but the reality is many of their components were made by the same manufacturers we couldn't afford.... Add to that the fact that for a fair number of years Realistic stereos were considered a noted brand in the race to the top of the HIFI pyramid.
Out of this race came the Minimus series. We know there is a cult following for the Minimus Seven and with good reason- the little things rock. (Although I'd still watch out for that Minimus Cult- I hear they sacrifice Pioneers and Virgin Kenwood's on the Summer Solstice...Something about better bass response..) The Minimus 11 is the true inheritor of the great sound and legacy of the minimus seven. Both have the cool metal casing. Both are very efficient and max out a relatively low wattage. Both were intended to sound best with a special built stereo tailored to the speakers strengths. (Minimus Seven goes with the STA-7 or System Seven. The Minimus 11 Goes with the STA-11 or System 11 and yes there are later gens of the STA7 and 11 but that's for another add..) Both can and often are used without the corresponding stereo and do very well.
The Minimus 11's main strengths are very similar to the Minimus 7. While a bit heavier and larger the 11 gains extended bass response and the use of a paper cone tweeter, called a flange tweeter loaded in a special dispersion cone, also known as a horn throat,  in the front face adds a bit of sensitivity to the 11's that allows them to play louder at the same wattage as the 7's.
What Im getting at is the Minimus 11 is that great little budget speaker that punches above its price point and surprises many first time listeners- especially if you drive it with a System 11 but any low wattage system will gain benefit from these little guys.
